LAWYERS

“All we hear is
lawyers are gaga
lawyers are gago
lawyers are gaga
All we hear is
lawyers are gaga
lawyers are blah blah”
~Lawyers (Inspired by Queen)

I MISSED DAY 26 of the Corona Impeachment Trial because I watched a movie called ‘This Means War.’ I felt like a loser after when I learned that a real war happened inside the impeachment court.

Apparently, senator-judge Miriam Defensor-Santiago used the word “gago” and “mayabang” to describe the prosecution panel. To which, prosecutors protested, “With all due respect, hindi po kami mayabang!”

Private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre insists he’s had enough of Senator Santiago’s lectures and criticisms, he opted to cover his ears… which totally surprised everyone who was instead expecting Niel Tupas to cover his face.

The decision of the senator-judges was unanimous. Private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre was cited for contempt… for looking like an idiot on nationwide TV.

Private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre was cited for contempt for disrespecting a member of the impeachment court. Under the rules, Aguirre may be ordered to pay a fine of 2,000 pesos, imprisoned for no more than 10 days, or forced to listen to “The Best Of Miriam’s Mad Moments Volume 1.”

Vitaliano Aguirre, a volunteer lawyer for the prosecution panel covered his ears while senator-judge Miriam Defensor-Santiago was lecturing the prosecution panel. Aguirre’s gesture of covering his ears while being berated seemed shocking and unusual to everyone… except for his wife.

Top 7 Movie Remakes Starring Vitaliano Aguirre and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago

No. 7: There’s Something About Miriam

No. 6: Wah of the Words

No. 5: Dr. Zhivgago

No. 4: Kung Fu Malag Ka

No. 3: Kahit Contempt Pagtingin

No. 2: The Day the Ear Stood Still

And the No. 1 movie remake starring Atty. Vitaliano Aguirre and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago…

The Pest and the Furious

Apology
On Thursday, March 1, lawyer Vitaliano Aguirre quit the prosecution panel. He also apologized to Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago for hurting her feelings. There’s no word yet on whether Santiago will apologize to Aguirre for hurting his eardrum.

Deferred
The International Criminal Court has allowed Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago to defer her scheduled March 9 oath-taking at The Hague, Netherlands. And the prosecution panel was like, “Hell, no!”

The ICC has allowed Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago to defer her scheduled March 9 oath-taking in the Netherlands. Even the ICC’s afraid of her.

The Bar
Christopher John Lao, the UP Law grad who drove his car into an inundated road last year has passed the bar. His cellphone as well as his Facebook & Twitter timelines were flooded with congratulatory messages.

On Twitter, Chris Lao expressed his gratitude to those who supported & prayed for him. The ecstatic new lawyer thanked everyone… except for GMA News’ Jun Veneracion.

For the first time in 27 years, not a single UP Law grad made it to the list of Top 10 bar passers. And Renato Corona was like, ‘Don’t look at me!”

Rodolfo Aquino, a UP professor who finished law at San Beda Alabang placed 10th. Aquino is 64 years old. He’s the Christopher Plummer of last year’s bar exam.

Peace
Reports say Annabelle Rama and former TV executive Wilma Galvante have kissed and made up. That’s bad news… for their lawyers.

LiLo
Lindsay Lohan is reportedly coming to Manila. Ang susunod na foreign artist ay Rated SPG.

FHM Racist?
I’m sure you’ve seen the alleged “racist” cover of FHM Philippines. Do you know Bela Padilla? Yeah, me neither.

Quotes of the Day
“Nagbibiro ba kayo? In writing na ang compliance n’yo! Pagkatapos, sasabihin ninyo, our case is very strong and we will never want to present evidence? Ang yayabang n’yo! Puro gago naman. Kagaguhan is ground for contempt.”
~Senator-judge Miriam Defensor-Santiago

“I did it purposely kasi totoo naman pong shrill ang voice na nasasaktan ang tenga ko. Dapat po ang judges, kahit kami ay hamak lamang na prosecutor dito, ang importante po sa tao ay respeto. Kung nagdi-demand ka ng respeto, dapat ay respetuhin mo rin ang abogado dito. ‘YOng human dignity, wala pong katulad ‘yan.”
~Private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre

“The caption was meant for the article and not for the picture.”
~Bela Padilla on her controversial FHM cover

talo inis, that’s what miriam is. everytime has the floor lambasting the prosecutors, she acts as if she was the supreme one. but once somebody stood up against her, she cries foul. i salute atty aguirre, what he did might not be not be a proper act inside the trial court but in the court of ‘human dignity’, it was the right thing to do.

miriam said that we should listen to what she will be saying
so that we will learn and not how the message was delivered,
and i agree with her, though oftentimes she overacts, just the
same, let’s give it to her..

The first time there was no UP Law graduate in the top ten – 1984. This was the second time. Is it a big deal that there is no UP Grad in the Top Ten? Quality education from a university does not only reflect students bagging places in the board. It is how they will serve OUR nation by using the principles they have learned inside the classroom.

Infinite Justice

Senior60..

think please…

the place we live in is not a barbaric world. here is the place where “it hears before it condemns”. That’s why there is a need for lawyers to see to it that justice is serve right upon the accused.

the last time i checked, the presumption of guilt is belongs to the accused..and with it, the Bill of Rights enshrined in the Constitution said “Rights of the Accused” not “rights of the innocent”

erratum: “guilt belongs”

radio gago – nice.

urban dictionary
definition – “waah”
” sad noise coming from an annoyed, unhappy, depressed person. – e.g. child : ‘my head hurts…waah’ ”

the word is not ” waah ” but ” wha ” which means, nothing..

and don’t bother anymore to look up the meaning anywhere
because it’s not yet there, maybe this will be included in the,
new word category hehe

actually in aguire’s defense he said that he usually covers his ears as a matter of habit especially when his clients start confessing their crimes to him.

Kudos to Atty. Vitaliano Aguirre! May your tribe increase! Mabuhay ka!

granting that there is still a next time for aguirre, he should

enter the court room only if it’s lapid’s turn to talk..

Atty. Aguirre was covering his ears so as not to be cited for contempt for grinning ear to ear. He merely wanted to stifle an impish grin.

Saling pusa na atat mapansin, yan si Vitaliano Aguirre. But I think he got his wish, sikat na siya ngayon.

It is the shrill voice encoded in the voice of the gentle lady from iloilo. Thank you madam that you have relayed the message of the learned filipinos.

what a relief that sen miriam did her mandated duty to protect and uphold the highest standard of our law protecting our constitution in most dignified stature unscathed against people who are evidently playing inside the courtroom. Tupas should be castigated also dahil sya ang nagbibigay ng go signal sa private prosecutors na manggulo, kitang kita sa camera si tupas na di rin sineseryoso si sen. miriam as well as the court. People are simply mum watching the actuations of that guy.

Since i am a common tao watching a TV, i could have done better elevating a more shrill voice. Her judgement is not of her own but of the majority of the legal community to prevent mockery worldwide.

The shrill voice of the filipino people will be then combative if those happenings was not corrected immidiately. Thanks JPE. Thank you sen. miriam and sen. cayetano.

@Anonymous; you are as arrogant as Miriam being blinded by your own principle. Protecting the constitution wouldn’t be a question pero yung murahin mo ang mga abogado and calling them gago inspite of working voluntarily on the case is ignoramus.

Without Atty. Cuevas, Senate Pres. Enrile, Senator Santiago plus the other senators who show their fairness and objectivity, the world will really believe that Filipinos are truly dumb and shallow. Thank God these people are still around.
