TACTLESS

31 10 2010

PRESIDENT AQUINO is back from Vietnam. In case you’re not familiar with Vietnam, it’s that Southeast Asian country where “wine sucks, men don’t look good, and busy streets kill people.”

Mai Gosh!
While President Aquino was being received by Vietnamese leader Nguyen Minh Triet, his speechwriter, Assistant Secretary Carmen “Mai” Mislang was tweeting “(the) wine sucks.” Apparently, Mislang knows more about wine than protocols.

Assistant Secretary Mai Mislang of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office received flak for tweeting, “sorry walang pogi dito #vietnam.” Malacañang obviously failed to inform Mislang that the purpose of the state visit was to establish economic – not romantic ties with the Vietnamese.

Defending the embattled assistant secretary, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte says Mislang is one of the hardest working people in the Presidential Communications office – something that was evident during the state visit. Despite her busy schedule, she was able to hang around ogling Vietnamese boys! Sipag!

Assistant Secretary Mislang also tweeted, “crossing the speedy motorcyle-laden streets of Hanoi is one of the easiest ways to die” – to which a Vietnamese blogger reportedly replied, “posting insensitive tweets during a state visit is one of the easiest ways to damage diplomatic ties.”

Apology
Amid mounting criticisms, Assistant Sec. Mai Mislang wrote on her Facebook wall, “I apologize for my comments.” Rumors say Vietnamese nationals are willing to forgive Mislang… but only after she has tried crossing the streets of Hanoi.

On her Facebook account, Assistant Secretary Mai Mislang was more apologetic. She wrote, “I feel extremely blessed to be in a beautiful country blessed with warm hospitable people.” And the “Bait-baitan School of Acting Award” goes to…

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte assures Mislang’s tweets won’t affect the relationship between the Philippines and Vietnam. She didn’t say though if the tweets would affect the relationship between Filipinos and the Communications Group.

Communications Secretary Ricky Carandang told Asst. Secretary Mai Mislang to restrain herself next time. Carandang explained that Mislang may have just been excited because this was her first state visit. And probably her last.

This just in: Amid a storm of criticism over her controversial tweets, Asst. Sec. Mai Mislang has officially filed a leave of absence… from Twitter.

Halloween & Politics
Sunday was Halloween. It’s that time of the year when some people wear masks and costumes to hide their true selves and then go out scaring other people hoping to win something big. Wait a minute, that’s not Halloween. That’s the national elections.

Reports say Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo came in as a witch in a pre-Halloween party for neophyte lawmakers last week. The former president was praised by her colleagues for being effortless.

Sources say Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos also attended the said event. She wore her original face.

May 10 Elections: The Aftermath
Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert Teodoro has conceded defeat to his second cousin, Sen. Noynoy Aquino. Unfortunately for Gilbert, he failed to make it work. I mean, “Mind over mother.”

It’s been a week since the country held its first ever automated elections. At press time, Noynoy Aquino and Jejomar Binay are leading the PPCRV and the Comelec tally. This is understandable though since both candidates were supported by the INC. Aquino, by the Iglesia ni Cristo, and Binay, by the Iglesia ng Cojuangco.

In a press conference Monday, the Liberal Party claimed that based on 88 certificates of canvass (81 percent) obtained by the party, Mar Roxas led Jejomar Binay by 137,404 votes. LP stalwarts did not reveal though whose idea was it to publicly give Roxas… false hopes.

Conceding defeat to Noynoy Aquino, Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. apologized to the people whom he may have hurt during the campaign. He apologized to his opponents, to their supporters, and to his critics. He didn’t say though when is he going to apologize to his mother.

Former PCSO and MTRCB Chairman Manoling Morato revealed that men approached him and offered to rig the polls in favor of Gilbert Teodoro for one billion pesos. Morato was stunned! Imagine, the men were asking one billion pesos from him! He subsequently rejected the offer saying the most that he had given a man was P1,500. Two hours na ‘yon!

It was a rather unusual day at the House of Representatives last Wednesday. A ‘koala’ stole the show from the crocodiles.

Comelec officials started to doubt the credibility of the masked whistleblower when they tried to extract some personal information from him. Asked about his residence, the whistleblower replied, “eucalyptus tree.”

May 2010: The Campaign
Noynoy Aquino says he won’t quit smoking because doing so might affect his decisions. Did you know what happened the last time he tried to stop smoking? He decided to run for president!

Did you watch Sunday night’s vice presidential debate organized by ABS-CBN? At one point, Loren Legarda asked Mar Roxas why he kept shifting allegiances. Viewers were shocked to hear that from Loren. For a moment, they thought Jay Sonza would then be mocking Jejomar Binay for being dark-skinned.

You’ve heard the news about the death of the son of TV host Toni Rose Gayda, right? Reports say neighbors heard a loud thud when Edward James Gayda Lim fell from the veranda of their condo unit last Friday. How about the latest Pulse Asia trust survey? Heard about it? Reports say neighbors of presidential bet Manny Villar heard a loud thud too.

The race for president heats up as the campaign period approaches. Have you seen the candidates’ latest stunts? Noynoy Aquino tried to rap and Gilbert Teodoro attempted to fly a plane. Not to be outdone, Bro. Eddie Villanueva will try to walk on water.

Don’t you find local politics exciting? Noynoy Aquino is fighting Manny Villar. Richard Gordon is fighting Noynoy Aquino. And Gilbert Teodoro is fighting Rico Blanco.

The latest Social Weather Stations survey showed that Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar has narrowed the lead of his main rival, Liberal Party standard-bearer Noynoy Aquino. But Liberal Party stalwarts insisted the survey was “biased” because respondents were asked these two questions: (1) Nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura?

During a debate in UP, Sen. Jamby Madrigal was booed for failing to give an accurate answer to the question, “Would you know the current price of “galunggong.” She justified her wrong answer by saying, “I’m a vegetarian.” But when a student asked her to name the third vegetable mentioned in the folk song “Bahay Kubo,” she insisted, “I’m not a singer.”

This just in! Minutes after Apollo Quiboloy announced his “chosen one,” another presidential candidate issued a statement thanking the religious leader. It turned out though that the “candidate” was misinformed by a supporter.

Interviewed by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Sen. Jamby Madrigal described Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. as “an evil candidate.” Villar vowed to give a reaction tomorrow on radio station dzRH, 666 kHz.

An emotional Nanay Curing Villar, mother of presidential candidate Manuel Villar Jr. faced the media to defend her son against his critics. The press con organized by Villar’s media group has just earned for Nanay Curing the distinction of being the oldest campaign paraphernalia yet.

According to Albay Governor Joey Salceda, Noynoy Aquino was his seatmate in the English class in Ateneo some 30 years back. Salceda will never ever forget the young Noynoy… mainly because he was the only one who owned a lighter then.

Noynoy Aquino supporters refused to believe that he underwent psychiatric evaluation in 1996. They wanted the source of the report to prove that the name “Benigno Simeon” actually appeared on the document.

At a recent campaign sortie in Bacolod City, Kris Aquino’s 2-year-old son Baby James blurted out “Villar!” on the microphone to the delight of the Ilonggos. A noticeably stunned Kris had to turn him away from the crowd. The Bacolod incident has prompted Noynoy Aquino to conduct a loyalty check on his family.

Sen. Manny Villar has challenged Sen. Noynoy Aquino to undergo a psychiatric test. Felt slighted by the challenge, Noynoy told Villar, “Magpapa-psychiatric test lang ako kung mamamatay ka muna dahil walang pampagamot.”

Howie Severino became the first Filipino journalist to be beamed on live TV in “a hologram” – or as Pastor Apollo Quiboloy would describe it, “a vision.”

March 2010: MVP and Plagiarism
It spread like wildfire on the Internet. According to reports, sections of PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan’s commencement address to the sesquicentennial graduates of his alma mater, Ateneo De Manila University last March 26 and 27 were copied from speeches of celebrities like media mogul Oprah Winfrey, late-night host Conan O’Brien, ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling and even US President Barack Obama. Members of the graduating class now understand why MVP, towards the latter part of his speech last week thanked AdMU president Fr. Bienvenido Nebres, the Class of 2010, their parents, the Ateneo community, and Google.

A section of MVP’s commencement address to Ateneo graduates was copied from the speech of US President Barack Obama. Members of AdMU’s graduating class realized this when Pangilinan announced his plans of withdrawing troops from Iraq.

A portion of Manny Pangilinan’s commencement address to Ateneo graduates last month was copied from a speech of ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling. Members of the graduating class realized this when MVP promised to raise funds for the Ateneo Blue Eagles Quidditch team.

The Ateneo De Manila University Board of Trustees has decided to reject the resignation of its chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan. Consequently, the board announced that the university is adopting a new slogan. From “Lux Domino” (Light in the Lord), the new slogan will be, “Plagiarius est non bonus tamen nos postulo viaticus” (Plagiarism is not good but we need cash).

Arroyo’s Ratings
The Social Weather Stations says President Arroyo’s net satisfaction rating is down to negative 53 percent, an all-time low. Because of the “F” or failing grade she received from Filipinos, Mrs. Arroyo says she’s more than willing to repeat.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife Maria, and dozens of political, military, and religious leaders of Poland were killed in a plane crash last Sunday. Unverified reports say, before the plane crashed, it was flying too low. Yeah, it was flying too low it almost collided with President Arroyo’s satisfaction rating.

DELAYED

25 10 2010

Irked
An apparently irked President Aquino admitted that he was dissatisfied with the performance of the Commission on Elections after the reported delay of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in some parts of the country. To explain the delay, and learning about the President’s dissatisfaction, Comelec officials immediately held a press briefing. The first question fired at Chairman Jose Melo was, “Are you aware of what happened to Dr. Prisco Nilo?”

Blame Game
DepEd officials are blaming the Comelec for the delay in the barangay and SK polls. The Comelec is blaming the National Printing Office for the delay of delivery of election paraphernalia. At press time, the President has yet decide whether he’ll take the cudgels for them or not.

Extended
In some areas affected by delays, voting was extended for another hour or two. In Lubao, rumors have it that former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo wanted to extend it for… another term.

Voted
President Aquino cast his vote at precinct 0175A-Alto at the Central Azucarera Elementary School in Tarlac City at around 10am Monday. The frontrunner in the race for barangay captain in the village was a bachelor who failed to pass a single ordinance during his three consecutive terms as kagawad.

Unconfirmed reports say former president Joseph Estrada also cast his vote for the barangay elections in San Juan. This time though, he admitted that he didn’t vote for Jejomar Binay.

Peaceful
According to the Philippine National Police, the nationwide barangay and SK elections were generally peaceful and orderly – with very minor problems. For instance, in Quezon City, former congresswoman Annie Susano resurfaced and claimed that she has obtained two flash cards.

The Comelec says the voter turnout in today’s barangay and SK elections was much lower than the turnout of voters in the May 10 polls. Because of the low turnout, counting of votes finished earlier than expected. In fact, a majority of defeated candidates have already conceded… with the exception of Jamby Madrigal, JC De Los Reyes, and Nicanor Perlas.

This just in: Three candidates for barangay captain in Makati City refused to accept the results of the barangay elections. This, after the final tally showed they were defeated by Vetellano Acosta.

No Alcohol!
From October 24 to 26, the Commission on Elections is implementing a “liquor ban” – or as Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa would call it, the saddest day of his life.

Off to Vietnam
President Aquino is leaving for Vietnam Tuesday. The Philippine delegation has been limited to only 52 members… mainly because the budget for hotdogs is good for 52 persons only.

No to Smoking!
The Department of Health has launched “Say NOSI” or the “No to Sigarilyo, No to Second-Hand Smoke” campaign. In print ads that came out Monday, the DOH said, “Ireport agad ang pasaway” – marking the first time in the last 107 days that a government agency courageously attacked the president.

Miriam Falls
In her Twitter account Sunday, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago reported that she fell off the stage as she was about to deliver a speech at a forum in Istanbul, Turkey. But the senator immediately picked herself up, received a standing ovation… and eventually won first runner-up in the extemporaneous speech category.

Actors, Junk Food, & Cabs!
After proposing to limit the weight of bags being carried by school children, Sen. Lito Lapid has filed a bill that seeks to ban junk food in schools. In his proposed measure, Lapid said, “It’s high time for the government to undertake the much needed radical reform to advance this unfortunate situation by way of ascertaining that food supplied in school meals would be strictly limited to those fortified with the necessary vitamins and proteins for all school children while banning those that may be hazardous to health.” We admire the good senator’s intention but… ‘di nga?!? Nagamit niya ang “radical reform,” “ascertaining,” “fortified,” at “hazardous to health” in one sentence?!?

Meanwhile, Senator Bong Revilla has re-filed his three-year-old bill that seeks to penalize taxi drivers who refuse to give exact change to their passengers. When Senator Lapid was asked to comment on Revilla’s bill, he said, “That’s a radical reform indeed although ascertaining whether the driver is fortified with shame or not can be hazardous to the passenger’s health.”

In Entertainment
President Aquino’s youngest sister, Kris declared on national TV that she’s “ready to fall in love again” with a man her age. Ang tanong: is there someone out there who’s willing to take the risk?

Heckling a Headline

Ayun! Maraming ‘di bumoto dahil wala daw silang payong!

JUAN DAY IN YOUR LIFE

21 10 2010

THIS JUST IN!
Reports say Afghanistan and Iraq are the second and third most dangerous places for OFWs today. Topping the list is Gulf Air GF Flight 154.

Typhoon Juan: The Aftermath
President Aquino is very pleased that the government has survived the strongest typhoon to hit the world this year. Sayang! Hindi umabot sa First 100 Days!

Reports say President Aquino is very pleased with how government agencies responded to the latest disaster. Because of the government’s preparedness, risks were mitigated, loss of life was minimized, and media attention was diverted from Rico E. Puno.

In his official statement released Tuesday, the President said, “The thorough preparations of all concerned agencies are in marked contrast to the official helplessness of the past.” And Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was like, “Ako! Ako! Lagi na lang ako!”

President Aquino is pleased that the Philippines survived this latest disaster. In fact, Typhoon Juan was the second strongest storm that the country has experienced this year… next only to the Manila hostage crisis.

President Aquino has praised PAGASA for its accurate and timely forecasts. To give you an idea of how ‘timely’ PAGASA has become, Donald Tsang just called. He thanked President Aquino for PAGASA’s advance forecast for Hong Kong.

Here’s the bad news: PAGASA revealed yesterday that another cyclone is developing over the Pacific Ocean and will likely take the same path as that of typhoon Juan: tuwid na daan patungong Northern Luzon. Shoot!

Typhoon Juan has left the Philippines. The ‘super typhoon” was here for like 96 hours…. the same amount of time it takes DepEd officials, PAGASA forecasters, and news reporters to finish saying the acronym for National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. [Altogether now: N-D-R-R-M-C!]

Anti-Aquino Group
Have you heard the news about this anti-Aquino group that calls itself S4? When I first heard the name, I was like, “Oh, no. Not another K-Pop group please!”

Insisting that the May 10, 2010 election was “unconstitutional” because a foreign corporation (Smartmatic) administered it, the anti-Aquino group S4 has declared all elective positions vacant. Now we know what the ‘S’ in S4 stands for. Sick.

Locating Lacson
According to Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, the government’s failure to locate fugitive senator Panfilo Lacson has embarrassed her. When Interior Undersecretary Rico E. Puno heard this, he asked, “What’s embarrass?”

Allies of fugitive lawmaker Panfilo Lacson say the senator refuses to surrender because he hates the very idea of being in handcuffs… unless of course he’ll be allowed to bring with him his nail file.

Deles and Dimaporo
Secretary Teresita “Ging” Deles is still at odds with Lanao del Norte Rep. Fatima Aliah Dimaporo. The Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process is at war.

Caparas Charged!
The Bureau of Internal Revenue has filed 64 counts of tax evasion against controversial National Artist Carlo J. Caparas. When Caparas heard the news, he blurted out, “God, why me?!”

Oldest Galaxy
Astronomers claim they have found the oldest galaxy in the universe. It was also the favorite star of Senator Enrile when he was a kid.

The President’s Lovelife
Presidential Communications Group Secretary Ricky Carandang says President Aquino “can date not just once a month” because he’s single. I so agree with Ricky. In fact, if the President wants to be the next Dolphy… go ahead! As Senator Enrile would say, “Gusto ko, happy ka!”

Not read.’
Yikes!
Oo.

Kung bagyo si Pangulong Aquino, his closest friends will be spared.

Hihintayin muna niyang lumaki at madevelop into a new storm ang isang low pressure area, saka siya lilisan sa puwesto.

Loving-loving while raining.

After six hours though, she’ll quit and leave.

Signal No. 4!

YOU’RE SO DEAD!

13 10 2010

MOMENTS BEFORE he died, famous French grammarian Dominique Bouhours uttered: “I am about to – or I am going to – die: either expression is correct.” On his deathbed, Voltaire was asked by a priest to renounce Satan. The philosopher replied: “This is no time for making enemies.” And convicted murderer James French shouted this to members of the press who were to witness his execution by electric chair: “Hey, fellas! How about this for a headline for tomorrow’s paper? ‘French Fries’!”

In advance observance of All Saints Day, The Professional Heckler brings back ‘Famous Last Words’ – “predicted” deathbed statements of local political and entertainment figures. This is the 2010 edition of that ‘recurring’ blog article.

Their famous last words:

President Aquino: “Watch what happens… ”

President Aquino 2: ‘Walang wangwang. Walang counterflow. Walang tong. Walang… buhay.”

Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno: “Unless the President asks me to die, I won’t.”

Executive Secretary Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa Jr.: “Hik!”

Atty. Edwin Lacierda: “I have no idea who leaked the information on my purported death but I assure you – the Communications Group had nothing to do with it. I promise to investigate the matter when I’ve fully recovered.”

Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal: “Honestly. Orderly. Peacefully.” [When asked by the press how he wanted to die]

Antonio “Tony Boy” Cojuangco (to the press): “Who told you I am dying? I am not. Walang concrete evidence ‘yang source n’yo. You! Yes, you the reporter in blue, tell me, kung wala bang matibay na ebidensya ang source ng balita mo, irereport mo?”

Sen. Lito Lapid: “Zzzzzzzz.”

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago: “Ayoko na! Punong-puno na ako! Ayoko naaa!”

Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson: “Ayoko! Hindi maaari! Set up ‘to! Set up!”

Outgoing ABS-CBN News & Current Affairs Chief, and Esquire magazine’s Sexiest Filipina Alive Maria Ressa: “I will not be renewing my contract with ‘life.’ It’s time for me to move on.”

GMA 7’s Mel Tiangco: “Nakow! Ganito pala kapag huling minuto na ng buhay ng isang tao ‘no ha? Nakakatakot pala Mike! Pambihira ‘no ha!”

Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad: “No comment.”

And finally…
Kris Aquino (via Twitter): “RT @iamkrisaquino: guys, thanks for all your prayers. joshua and bimby are beside me now. i told them to be strong. grabe! bimby cried when i told him na i’ll gonna visit him every nite. hahaha then josh said, ‘mamu, you’re creepy.’ gosh, ganito pala ang feeling. kaloka!” #AlmostDead #KeriLang #Now Na!

In the news now:

More than 300 officers and enlisted men who took part in three failed power grabs were granted amnesty by President Aquino. When he heard the news, Sen. Panfilo Lacson started plotting a mutiny against the Aquino government.

The RH Bill Debate
The good news is: Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal has reportedly asked President Aquino to create a panel that will discuss the pros and cons of the Reproductive Health Bill. The bad news is: the panel’s recommendations will have to be reviewed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa.

GMA News.TV reported that the Church is eyeing Facebook as another platform against the Reproductive Health Bill. If that happens, that page will likely set the record for the most number of clicks to the “Unlike” button.

Confused Congressman
Interviewed on GMA 7’s Reporter’s Notebook, Negros Occidental Rep. Jules Ledesma was asked if he’s gay. Ledesma answered, “I don’t know. Maybe! Maybe not.” Watching her partner on TV, Assunta da Rossi was like, “My God, did you just make me a lesbian?”

Esquire Says…

Outgoing ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs chief Maria Ressa has been named by Esquire magazine as the Sexiest Woman Alive for Philippines. Rumors say Ressa’s enemies in ABS-CBN will file a complaint against Esquire for baseless and biased reporting.

Belo on Immigration Cards
Reports say the face of cosmetic expert Vicki Belo replaced the image of President Aquino on immigration cards. Apparently, it was an advertisement for the Belo medical clinic. But critics wanted the cards recalled saying tourists might confuse the Philippines for Madame Tussauds.

Just weeks after incurring the ire of President Aquino, the Bureau of Immigration stirred yet another controversy by printing millions of the modified arrival and departure cards, this time with the face of cosmetic expert Vicky Belo. Immigration officials defended their action saying they actually chose between two advertisers: Vicki Belo and Ellen Lising. Sige, mamili kayo!

STILL STANDING

12 10 2010

“I think that I shall never see
A friend lucky as this Tree.
A Tree who’s twice put to the test
Yet boss won’t let him go and rest.
Blogs are made by fools like me,
But only Noy can save a Tree.”
~“Puno” by Joyce Killjoy

“Isinusumpa ko sa harap ng Diyos at ng tao, walang iwanan pare ko.”

MALACAÑANG has spoken and it’s official. Interior Undersecretary Rico Escalona Puno is untouchable.

Malacañang said there was not enough basis to file administrative or criminal charges against Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno in connection with the August 23 hostage fiasco. Eight Hong Kong nationals were killed that day. Maybe 10 or 12 would have nailed him, right?

Rejecting the recommendation of the Incident and Investigation Review Committee (IIRC), Malacañang absolved both Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno and former PNP Chief Jesus Versoza of any administrative or criminal liabilities in connection with the August 23 hostage fiasco. That makes Puno and Versoza the “ultimate recipients” of Malacañang’s kindness.

Sanctioned
Malacañang’s legal review panel has recommended the filing of administrative charges against only eight officials in connection with the Aug. 23 hostage crisis. The eight officials represent the eight Hong Kong nationals killed.

Robredo and Puno
It’s confirmed! President Aquino met with Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno Sunday night, October 10. The meeting started calmly with the President telling Puno and Robredo, “No hitting below the belt, no head-butting, no kicking.”

Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno met with President Aquino Sunday night. According to Robredo, it was a “very cordial meeting.” In fact, when Puno and the President started talking about guns, Robredo acted as if he was interested.

According to Secretary Jesse Robredo, he met with President Aquino and Interior Undersecretary Puno last Sunday in Bahay Pangarap… totally dispelling rumors they were sighted that same night at the Elorde Gym.

Secretary Jesse Robredo said his meeting with President Aquino and Undersecretary Puno last Sunday night “went well for all parties.” In fact, when the meeting was over, Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa said, “Let’s drink to that!”

President Aquino revealed that he has ordered Local Government Secretary Robredo and Interior Undersecretary Puno to start “acting as one.” The two officials admitted it was hard to act but they’ll try.

Top 5 Things Overheard at the Meeting of President Aquino, Sec. Jesse Robredo and Usec. Rico Puno

No. 5: “Group hug nga, group hug. One… two… three. Bromance!”

No. 3: “Ssssh, atin-atin lang ‘to Jesse huh. ‘Di naman sa pagyayabang, pero kahit magsama-sama pa kayong lahat, ‘di ako matitinag. The President and I share secrets! O, ayan na pala siya eh. ‘Tol, musta pare dude!? Okay ka lang ba bro?”

No. 2: “My pareng Rico is not receiving any jueteng payola. Kung gusto mong magkasundo tayo. ‘yan ang laging tandaan mo. Maliwanag?”

And the No. 1 thing overheard at the meeting of President Aquino, Secretary Robredo and Undersecretary Enrico Puno…

“Ito, air pistol. Ito namang isa, air rifle. Sige, hawakan mo Secretary nang matuto ka.”

Isko Spared
Malacañang says there’s no legal basis to file any case against Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno. Instead, they commended him for acting president during the hostage crisis.

Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno has been cleared by the palace’ legal review panel. Well, request granted!

No criminal charges will be filed against Manila Mayor Alfred Lim. However, he was admonished for his “ham acting” in front of the media. (“Pulis lang! Pulis lang ang magpapakamatay! Remember that! (suntok sa mesa) Pulis lang!”)

Tulfo and Rogas, Too
Malacañang did not recommend the filing of charges against RMN’s Michael Rogas and Erwin Tulfo. However, Tulfo was reprimanded for his fake American accent during the IIRC hearing.

In Other News…
Reports say President Aquino dated a certain Barbie Palagos last Saturday. Sources described the President’s date as low-key and non-showbiz who’s got a high tolerance for secondary smoke.

Maria Ressa Resigns
The reform-minded Maria Ressa has resigned from the Kapamilya network. The former CNN Jakarta Bureau chief is leaving the snake pit that is ABS-CBN. Ressa will be replaced (effective Oct. 18) by ANC’s North American bureau chief Ging Reyes, one of the bridesmaids of Korina Sanchez.

A source revealed Ressa could be “bully” sometimes but her independence, and high standards were instrumental in weeding out the corrupt and the inept in the ABS-CBN News organization. As the Inquirer said, “this earned her not a few enemies in and out of the newsroom.”

One thing’s for sure though: India Aruba, Austria Zambia, and Ghana Switzerland are now rejoicing. Early Christmas for them. Happy days are here again.

With the changing of the guards, some news executives and reporters close to Ressa could also be on their (forced) way out. Australia Armenia, will you be next? But Gambia Zaire knows for sure, “my days are numbered.”

Abangan!

The First 100 Days

7 10 2010

AT A TOWN HALL EVENT held Thursday at La Consolacion College in Manila, President Aquino gave his report on his first 100 days in office. Just like what he did in his first SONA, the President began with the basics or ABCs – Arroyo Bashing Comments.

Monkeys
President Aquino compared the previous administration to the pictorial maxim of the three wise monkeys who “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” Insulted allies of former President Arroyo vow to retaliate as soon as they get out of their cage.

Someone in the audience was heard asking, “Ilang ektarya ba ang Hacienda Luisita?”

And former President Arroyo was like, “Oh yeah, you had eight Hong Kong nationals killed.”

Developments
The President also said, “Paulit-ulit po nating ididiin: trabaho ang pangunahing agenda ng ating administrasyon.” Now we know why Enrico Puno still has a job.

The Chief Executive also boasted, “Nagkakaisa nang muli ang ating lipunan.” Then everyone at the venue felt awkward when he added, “’Yan din dasal ko para sa aking gabinete.”

Citing recent progress in the weather bureau, President Aquino said, “Maling sistema at maling palakad ang nanligaw sa pagtataya ng panahon.” – to which Dr. Prisco Nilo said, “Can we just move on?”

In his report to the nation, President Aquino did not mention anything about jueteng, his controversial shooting buddy Enrico Puno, and the reported factions in the Cabinet. Hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil.

President Aquino likewise slammed people whom he described as, “mga kapit-tuko sa puwesto.” At home, monitoring the speech on TV, napalunok na lang ang pamilya Binay.

The Cabinet
When President Aquino delivered his report to the nation on his first 100 days, members of his official cabinet came in full force – amid the reported conflict between the Balay Group and the Samar Group. Other attendees said there was no tension whatsoever between the two factions. It was like AKRho and Tau Gamma in a truce.

The Q&A Portion
After his speech, the President held a town hall meeting with sectoral representatives. The Q&A portion went smoothly as planned. Practice makes perfect!

Some people said President Aquino’s town hall meeting on Thursday appeared to be scripted. In fact, did you hear about the “student-hecklers” from UP Manila? They read their protest slogans from the teleprompter.

Student leaders from UP Manila “interrupted’ President Aquino’s town hall meeting at La Consolacion College Thursday. The President managed to keep his cool though. But a tense moment still ensued when Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim suddenly appeared and yelled, “Posasan na rin ang mga ‘yan! Dalhin n’yo sa Tondo!”

When a group of student leaders interrupted his meeting with sectoral representatives, tv cameras caught President Aquino with a shocked stare. The only other time he wore the same expression was when Shalani Soledad told him, “We’re done!”

While President Aquino was talking about cures for the problems of the country, his sister Kris was tweeting about remedies for her FMD. Magkapatid nga sila!

The President’s Sister
Kris Aquino, the president’s youngest sister told the whole world via Twitter that she has foot and mouth disease. In less than 24 hours, the tweet has become viral.

Kris Aquino has FMD. Joey Marquez has denied responsibility for the viral infection.

Did you hear the news? President Aquino’s sister, Kris Aquino is sick. She has FMD. Nah, not ‘Fresh Meat Deficiency.’ It’s foot and mouth disease.

Actually, Kris Aquino has been tweeting about her FMD for almost a year now. Nahh, not FMD as in foot and mouth disease. It’s her other FMD: ‘First Marriage in Disarray.’

On her Twitter account, Kris Aquino said, “Rare daw for an adult to get hawa but u know me — lapitin ng sakit.” Dahil d’yan, may nagteexxxt: “Correction: ikaw ang lumalapit. – Sakit.”

Satisfied?
According to a recent survey conducted by Social Weather Stations, 7 of 10 Filipinos were satisfied with President Aquino’s performance. The other three were monkeys.

Breaking News
Less than a week after the reported break up of President Aquino and Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, people are now talking about the President’s new apple of the eye. According to dzRH news anchors Deo Macalma and Ruth Abao, the new girl is a junior reporter of TV5. She’s a former child actress and former UP court side reporter in the UAAP. My gulay! She’s too young! The reporter’s name? Patricia Ann Roque.

Reacting to the rumor,Trish tweeted The Professional Heckler. She said
“Huwaaat?! No! I don’t get to talk to PNoy naman eh. Wow, where did that come from?! The last time na na-cover ko sya was his first weekend as president. Yun na yun. Lord, why me?! Hahahaha!”

This just in: Palace insiders denied rumors that President Aquino’s all-time favorite movie is Daddy’s Angel (starring Patricia Ann Roque and ex-basketeer Jayvee Gayoso). Who’s your daddy Patricia? Who’s your daddy! :-) Good luck! :-)

EXCOMMUNICATION

1 10 2010

BREAKING NEWS: Malacañang has denied rumors that President Aquino has abandoned Roman Catholicism for another religion. Likewise, palace sources insist there’s no truth to rumors that the President is forming his own ministry called, “Ang Tuwid na Daan.”

The CBCP’s Threat
Interviewed on Radio Veritas, CBCP president and Tandag, Surigao del Sur Bishop Nereo Odchimar said the Catholic Church might excommunicate President Aquino if the government pushed through with a plan to distribute contraceptives. In the same interview, Bishop Odchimar appealed to Andres Bonifacio and the Katipuneros to surrender to the Spanish government.

The CBCP’s Threat II
Malacañang is reportedly unfazed by CBCP president Nereo Odchimar’s excommunication threat. Palace insiders say President Aquino will neither bow to nor be cowed by the CBCP president… unless he’s Chinese.

This just in!
CBCP president Bishop Nereo Odchimar has denied saying that President Aquino may be excommunicated. Heckling Tour Guide
Social activist/Manila tour guide and Reproductive Health Bill advocate Carlos Celdran was arrested and detained Thursday for disrupting a mass at the Manila Cathedral. Celdran was detained for almost 24 at the Manila Police District Station 5 in Ermita during which he started to write two novels.

Reports say Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim together with some soldiers, and policemen were attending mass at the Manila Cathedral when Carlos Celdran staged a solo protest action Thursday.
