1887: In a letter to his good friend Ferdinand Blumentritt who’s in Manila, Jose Rizal narrates that he and Maximo Viola toured the city of Munich and enjoyed themselves. An incensed Blumentritt tore the letter up, logged into his Facebook account and set his status to ‘It’s complicated.’
1943: Lt. Gen. Sigenori Kuroda, newly appointed commander of the Japanese Imperial Army in the Philippines, states that he is profoundly pleased by the gradual restoration of infrastructure, peace, and order in the country. He attributes the progress to the cooperation of his new BFFs in the Philippines, Jose P. Laurel Sr. and Benigno Aquino Sr.
1963: Doña Maria Agoncillo, second wife of General Emilio Aguinaldo, dies at the age of 84. Aguinaldo immediately changes his Friendster status to ‘Very Single.’
