THE AFTERMATH

30 09 2009

2 GMA and “Ondoy”
Around 1 AM last Sunday, President Arroyo toured some parts of eastern Metro Manila where villages and barangays got submerged in floodwaters. For the first time in years, Mrs. Arroyo realized how low that portion of the metro was. The only thing lower… was her trust rating.

GMA and “Ondoy” II
President Arroyo and her Cabinet agreed Tuesday to donate their salaries for two months to victims of tropical storm “Ondoy.” Also doing his share to help typhoon victims is Cong. Mikey Arroyo who has volunteered to gather gifts and donations… by re-marrying his wife Angela this weekend.

PHILIPPINES FLOODING GMA and “Ondoy” III
President Arroyo has ordered the implementation of preemptive measures as another tropical storm threatens to pummel Manila and Luzon this week. In particular, Mrs. Arroyo wanted to see three things in place before the next typhoon enters the country: food & water, evacuation centers, and Richard Gutierrez.

Free Calls from PLDT
Manny Pangilinan’s PLDT Group has set up ‘Libreng Tawag’ centers to enable communities devastated by typhoon “Ondoy” to make free calls. There will be phone booths in every Libreng Tawag center. But calls will have a time limit. If a caller refuses to give up his booth, Erap will send 10 armed men to force him into giving up his booth to PLDT.

Erap to the Rescue
Entertainment editor Ricky Lo thanked former president Joseph Estrada for rescuing his sister and nieces who were trapped in their flooded residence at a village in San Juan. When Erap got Ricky’s call for help, he immediately sent three modern flotation devices: Jinggoy, Jude, and JV.

Ondoy’s Wrath
The National Disaster Coordinating Council says damages caused by tropical storm “Ondoy” has peaked at P4.79 billion. Analysts believe the country is about to witness the costliest reconstruction efforts in recent history, next only to the reconstruction of Vicki Belo, Madam Auring, and Ellen Lising.

Philippines Flooding The Queen Condoles
Queen Elizabeth II of England has extended her sympathies to the victims of tropical storm ‘Ondoy’ in the Philippines. The Queen said Britons were horrified when they saw the news on CNN. It was like staring at Camilla Parker Bowles’ photos for 10 straight minutes.

how true is it that richard only rescued cristine?

apparently he used a navy rubber boat to “rescue” christine reyes to the detriment of the Navy men who somehow ended up saving Richard’s ass when the rubber boat’s motor died.

The press release is he got a “speed boat” to rescue christine, what a selfish prick.

I’m surprised GMA wasn’t scared to visit the disaster stricken areas….I can only imagine the anger.

I agree with Ana N. Imus, kahit na one month worth of kurakot money, surely more than their 1 year salary should be donated!

Pano naman ako maniniwala na ibibigay nga ni “Gloria and the Gang” ang 1 month worth of their salary sa taong bayan eh no one will certify it in the first place. kung alam ko lang, nanggaling lang yan sa sukli nila from their trips abroad. Added to that, may malaking pera po na parating from other countries. Big bucks for “Gloria and the Gang”. $$$

Prayer for the Untruthful Leader:
“Nangangamatay na po ang taong-bayan. Ama, patawarin nyo na lang po sila. Hindi po nila alam ang kanilang ginagawa” Amen.

“But Speaker Prospero Nograles proposed that the representatives fork out only P20,000 each as their contribution to the relief efforts.

He also rejected a call to make the Batasang Pambansa complex an evacuation center, citing security risks and the fact that Congress was in the middle of budget deliberations.” – Inquirer News Article

Way to go, Noggie. Your great smpathy and compassion for our suffering countrymen really breaks my heart.

Sana sa susunod na deluvio, lamunin ng floodwaters ang bahay mo and you get stuck on your rooftop for a week!

I remember this quotation I’ve read many years ago that said, “Give when it hurts most”, this is more pleasing to the Lord. Do you think the two months salary of GMA and cabiniet hurts their pockets? Of course not because their two month salaries amounts to only a hundred thousand each. They should give millions and for GMA billions of pesos which they stole from the government coffers through kickbacks and fat commissions. I hope GMA and cohorts drowned in that deluge llast Saturday instead of the more than 200 people. To hell with GMA!

May nakawalang crocodiles sa Pasig. We can save those crocs by using Mikey and Noggie as a bait para mapakinabangan naman. Works both ways. By then, win-win situation tayo.

Allow me Mr. Heckler to post here in your blog my family’s thanks to bestfriend mavakes, whom I came to know only here in your blog thru her replies.

In her personal and private capacity without any government help, she reached out to give out relief goods to the flood victims and made the most unselfish effort of searching the whereabouts of my Aunt at Parang, Marikina, one of the hardest hit in that area.

From her, I came to know that my Aunt in her 70’s, survived the near-drowning when their bungalow was engulfed by the raging waters. She was made to cling to an improvised flotation device (water container) and pulled out to safety by a rope. Their house now is in shambles, wasak na wasak, puno ng putik ang lahat ng gamit, pati kotse, as my cousin would put it, he don’t know if there is anything worth salvageable.

Mavakes is still continuously reaching out to the others, whom in her own words, napabayaan na ng gobyerno. Napapagkamalan pa nga daw siyang government relief worker most of the time. Why she is doing these is because she says it is her way of thanking God, she and her family have been spared from the floods.

Mabuhay ka bestfriend!

How pathetic was the presidentiable Gibo in tonight’s news at TV Patrol. He was interviewed live by Ted Failon as was asked what are his department’s (NDCC) measures to thwart a possible disaster if Super Typhoon Peping comes in two to three day’s time to those areas still reeling from Ondoy’s aftermath.

He mumbled paikot ikot words like awaiting results from the LGUs meetings and the like. It was the vaguest of assurances I have ever heard from a person in charge of Nation in Disaster. Kalingkingan lang siya ni Dick Gordon ng Red Cross. Nakakadismaya. All rhetorics, less action.

i also heard gilbert in a live interview with mel

in 24 oras, yes, he mumbled, but to me, maybe

because i am a supporter hahaha, i think its

because he is not very comfortable with the pilipino

dialect, but the message was clear, he directed all

the lgus to get and be prepared for any eventuality,

now, whether that directive is plausible enough is

another story…

naturally he is all rhetorics because he is at the helm,

and i didn’t and will not expect him to wade as well,

though some reports said he did already…

Why, the heck are we “coordinating disasters”? Shoudn’t we be coordinating “disaster response” instead? The National “Disaster Coordinating” Council should be renamed to “National Disaster Response Coordinating Council” or NDRCC.

2 10 2009

i think the root word is National that is why it became a coordinating counsel for disaster?
