hey guys… if u really think about it… we’ve tried everyone… the best minds, best actor, a very brilliant dictator, a charismatic woman,etc. even if we have the best system and all the wealth in the world… we would still end up losers in a country swarmed with greed and corruption… i dont mind trying out a religious leader… if you think about it, his being a protestant is already a fight against traditional, passive ways of Roman catholicism which emanates some progressive-mindedness on his part… (just a thought)… i was curious actually about his life… and mind you… he’s not really that bad… he was a communist before… then a frontliner during the martial law… he was in the list of wanted:shoot to kill during Martial Law… was imprisoned together with farmers (who were on a strike bec of unlawful labor practices)… was a professor of political science, economics and public finance in the State University… im quite amazed on how he evolved as an evangelist… If we were really out for war against greed and corruption… we need to find someone who really has the courage to fight it.. not just mere courage but a formidable audacity for change… We cannot change the mindset and culture of Pinoys when it comes to corruption… but if there is someone, who will have the courage to ignite influence inch by inch…. maybe all we need is a shift in paradigm that “YES WE CAN” (obama style)… i wouldnt really mind voting for bro eddie… besides there can always be an edsa quatro if all else fails….

The closest to someone embodying Good in the 2004 elections was Eddie Villanueva. It wasn’t Raul Roco whom I supported. Not that Roco wasn’t good–he was a decent man and I still think he was the best choice then–it was that his being good wasn’t mythical or symbolic. It had no emotional resonance. Roco spoke to the head and not to the heart. It was Villanueva who spoke to the heart. I said it then, Villanueva’s phenomenal climb in the ratings owed to his unleashing a flood of idealistic sentiment with his “I believe” campaign.
With what’s happening in the Philippines right now, what the nation needs is a revolution in the political arena, through righteous governance and transparency.
This is not about political agenda of anybody. what’s at stake here is the destiny of the Philippines as a nation!
I THINK Bro. Eddie is the most qualified to be the next president of the Philippines. and if you don’t believe so, conduct your thorough research about him.
I now reside here in Canada but I’ll be back for DEC.2009 to start my campaign and vote for him this May 2010 if he really is a candidate.

The Philippines today is suffering so much from poverty, injustices, joblessness, corruption, hopelessness, apathy, and disbelief that change can actually happen to the nation. Our country has hit rock bottom, and this can only be remedied once a person will arise and stand before the nation with unquestionable moral ascendancy, righteous political will, a non-traditional political leader but has the capacity to change and transform the nation through a sensible and sound programs of government that will truly address the issues of the country especially the “masa”.
MORAL CHARACTER:
Bro. Eddie was transformed by the grace of God from a militant student leader, political radical activist-communist-atheist to an evangelist that has changed the lives of Filipinos all over the country and the world. Bro. Eddie cannot be bought because he once said that “the world is too poor to buy his convictions ad principles based on truth, justice and righteousness”.
EDUCATOR, ECONOMIST AND BROADCASTER:
Bro. Eddie finished Economics from Philippine Polytechnic University (PUP), was a consistent academic scholar and was hired to teach even without his diploma. He taught his students economics and finance, management, cooperatives, political economy, love for country and the need for social transformation thru the philosophies of Marx, Lenin and Mao. He was the longest sitting University Regent of Polytechnic University of the Philippines without receiving a single centavo for his services because he allotted it for scholarship funds of poor students. Enrolled at the UP College of Law but did not finish because he was included in the most wanted list of the AFP during Martial Law. He is currently the host of “Diyos at Bayan” and “Jesus the Healer” programs being aired at ZOE11 and GMA7. He has a deep understanding of the root causes of the problems of our country right now.

I strongly disagree. I SUGGEST OFFERING TIME HUWAG KANG MAGBIGAY. KUNG SA TINGIN MO NA PINEPERAHAN KA LANG AT MAY DUDA KA SA ISANG CHURCH. It’s up to your decision naman. Hindi naman kailangan ng Diyos ang pera. At hindi naman pinpilit kung wala talaga eh.
Kaya kami nagbibigay ng offering because it develops the character na “mapagbigay” and removing the spirit of stingy (madamot at makasarili) in us. Para hindi lang kami kabig ng kabig. I admire that you quoted some of George’s Washington sayings… i think we should be cautious though where to apply these kinds of sayings…
now i’m thinking, i really wonder why bro eddie villanueva wants to run for president anyway, because he wants to save the filipino people from the ruins of corruption and all other bad thingies? so i really wonder, how come the pope, or any other catholic priests, who had proved their moral integrity through the toughest of times, doesn’t want to run for president or even simply enter the political arena?
i just thought that it would be simpler for bro eddie villanueva to be a leader of his own field… as many of you had said, madami naman siyang supporters, then that’s good… let bro ed influence his followers… lead them… but to enter the political arena will be another issue pa kasi… coz really, we should not i think, mix religion and politics, coz politics is very different than religion… no matter what… what a religion can do is to do his own job and let politics do its own… it doesn’t mean that both will work alone, but both should do its own job, and let religion do its thing and make use its power and influence to the politics, for the greater good… they can be like adviser of the president, or support system of the whatever… but to be the president is really… like.. not really a good idea…

With millions of his followers all over the world, i believe and i agree with most of you that he really don’t need to run and seek the presidency. After all He’s already an accomplish and well respected leader, not just in the religious sector but even in the wider spectrum of the society both in our country and overseas. So, what’s really driving Bro. Eddie to run? What else does He need to prove? I’ve heard him speak many times. And, I believe that it’s his passionate love and genuine concern to see our beloved nation and people be set free from the clutches of corruption and poverty that drives him to fight the seemingly political giants in our land.
Moreover, i believe that Bro. Eddie doesn’t need the presidency, it’s the presidency and our people that needs him. A man who have good courage and moral authority. I cannot forget what he said during his 2004 presidential bid: “This world is too poor to buy my principles and convictions.” This man is to be admired for selflessly coming out of his comfort zone and making himself available for our nation and people.

Politics comes with a lot of ambiguities and compromises. Black isnt always black and white isnt always white. Decisions which doesn’t toe the lines of religious morality need to be made for the good of many.
Put in a “religious person” and you get an unyielding, single minded leader, which in governance is a big part of a recipe for disaster.

What will it take? Last 2004 Presidential Election, my first time to vote, I didn’t vote for him.
Every time I saw him on television campaigning, I always telling myself why he should run for presidency, why not keep himself on preaching God’s words for people? Back then my mind was conditioned that he should not be involved in politics.
But now, that God opened my mind and heard the reasons why he must run,
I am praying for the day he will lead our nation. My beloved country needs a righteous leader. We already tried lawyer, economist, actor, general but why don’t we try a man that seeking God’s kingdom first before anybody else?
May country man enough for corrupt people. Hindi pa tayo pagod sa mga matatalinong tao na walang hinangad kundi palakihin ang tiyan pati ang kanilang mga bank account. My bothers and sisters, aanhin mo ang matalinong tao kung wala namang Hesus sa kanyang puso, patuloy ka lamang lolokohin at aabusuhi nyan. Subukan mo ang leader na may takot sa Diyos, I doubt kung magagawang nyang manloko kasi nga may takot sa Diyos.

what i think to solve the issues or corruption and everything that there is to it in this country is not by merely changing the leader of the country, but the politicians itself… nagkaron at nagkaron na ng ilang mga edsa revolution, napalitan ng ilang beses ang leader ng bansa, and still ang pagbabago na inaasam ng karamihan ay wala pa… bakit kamo? nananatili pa yung mga “trapo” dito sa bansa… the trapo senators, trapo congress etc etc…
i really admire the supporters of bro ed… but i am really bothered because he is a religious leader, he will enter the world of politics, will he bring his own set of beliefs (religious) to the world of politics? what about certain issues that deals with something beyond religious dogma or ethics and it concerns a vast majority of people’s lives? what will he do about it? will he be self-absorbed by his religious/moral beliefs and just do what he thinks is right and not consider the ideas of others considering that we are a democratic country?
that is what i am afraid of religious leaders kasi, they’re kind people i know… but the feeling of a leader wanting to make a “eutopia” is kinda scary… you know the feeling of what they’re doing is “righteous” but not necessarily needed or not the right thing to do… parang ganun… (para bang yung sa avatar legend of aang sa earth kingdom episodes, at isa sa mga episode ng charmed kung saan mga “good” guys kuno pangako nila ang eutopia… hehe)…
religious leaders are for me, not meant for politics, religious leaders can extend their influence to politics, but not to enter politics… that’s why there are no catholic bishops, priests or whatsoever, who want to be the president of a country… they only manifest their works through what is supposed to be their calling… to help, to extend a helping hand to the needy, charity, do good things and many good act of kindness… coz through this naman, pede magbago ang bansa… sabi nga “act of random kindness can change the world” hindi lang naman sa leader only nakasalalay ang pagbabago ng isang bansa, kundi sa bawat citizen na nandito…

Well, im not that kind of person who argues much about politics. I used to be like a river that goes into the direction of the flow but this time I will speak up my conviction and i’ll unite to the rest of the people who shout for CHANGE.
Bro.Eddie is the instrument for our nation’s transformation. It’s not only he ultimately loves the LORD, it’s also for the reason that he truly loves the Philippines and the Filipinos. Hello to everyone. I think everyone who reads and knows about this column should be properly informed.
I would like to clear the issues stated in the blog one by one. First of all, it is surely a possibility that Brother Eddie runs for president in 2010. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t.
Second. The statement that says, “Ano ang tingin niya sa Pilipinas, kulto?”, is an outright fallacy. Does it follow that when a religious person runs for office, he will automatically convert his constituents into believing his belief? That is a fallacy and a statement based on fear and prejudice.
Third. Yes, I think people are afraid to go to hell, if they believe that it does exist. But neither Brother Eddie nor his followers cropped a slogan that says, “Ang hindi bumoto, diretso sa impyerno!” There is no such slogan except that which was crafted by the people who made the false statement.
Fourth. In fact, the administration withholds funds for CIBAC Partylist, the party-list that Hon. Joel Villanueva represents. Again, an outright speculation, at least.
Fifth. What is that statement, “Who would the Lord vote? (paraphrased)”, supposed to mean? This is an attack to the person of Eddie Villanueva using inappropriate and illogical statements.
Sixth. Does it mean that if some JIL people voted for Villanueva, it follows that his cause is unjust and his personality not credible? Draw the line clearly between statements and conclusions.
Seventh. Religion is a double-edged sword. One can use it for good or bad. The point the Mahatma Gandhi wanted to emphasize in his statement is that there is a possibility that religion can wield unpleasant results. That is true. But there is also a possibility that religion can be used to change a nation. It also Mahatma Gandhi who said that Christianity is good but Christians sometimes make it bad. It falls to the Christians to make Christianity realize its good potential.
Hence, there is one thing that stands amidst all that was said. Let us not make conclusions based on fear. Let us clearly draw the line between speculations and facts and make just and sure conclusions not based on doubt but on carefully-thought causalities. If we really do care for our country, we’ll consider our options carefully and think not based on fear and sarcasm. If we really care for the future of everyone, including our children, we should stay open-minded and think of what we can do to improve the situation by thinking and expressing (thus blogging) properly.

I’m a Christian, but i will not vote for Mr. Villanueva again. Bulakenyo ako pero natalo siya sa sarili niyang hometown (Bocaue). His children talk the talk but cannot walk the walk. His son was the mayor of Bocaue but all that he did was to squander municipal funds to construct a new municipal hall in the middle of a ricefield, which remains unused to this very day. You can see it for yourself if you pass by the North Luzon Expressway.His congressman son secretly lived-in with a sexy comedienne. I once idolized Mr. Villanueva, but his sour-graping antics turned-off many pastors and Christians alike.
Even if you were cheated, if it was God’s will for you to win, no human effort will stop you from taking the presidency. In the end it was Mr. Villanueva who defied God’s will, he should have been gracious in defeat, since God in all His wisdom knows whats best for him. Pinairal lang niya yung pagiging aktibista niya (no offence to the real tibaks). Sayang.

For me, it wouldnt really matter if we had the Pope, the Supreme Court Justice, Tiyo Paeng the tomato vendor, or Villanueva as president.

Speaking about the issues raised about Mr. Eddie Villanueva and his family, I think we need to substantiate our claims against Brother Eddie. And to be sure with proofs regarding such allegations.
Regarding the possibility of change in our nation’s context, I think that it is true that such change is hard to accomplish. Yet such challenges must not deter and discourage us from being the solution. Mr. Eddie Villanueva alone cannot and will not change this nation. Everybody has a part.
Hence, our action plan is to know who Mr. Villanueva really is and to investigate for ourselves the issues that face him and his family. The person has potential and he has a lot of people with him in the cause for change.
We need change and we’re all in this together.

I’m still not convinced that Villanueva is the answer to this country’s ills.
Give me something more concrete than “Let’s try a religious leader this time because God will guide him,” or “Let’s try him because he fears God” (I’m sure our politicians fear God too but they love money more), or “I’ve seen how he loves his country and he has cried buckets of tears because of his love.” (Imelda Marcos anyone?)
Show me how he has inspired a people to change – how for example, he has inspired the people of Walangkwenta City to fight against corruption and run their place as a model of good governance and true public service. Kahit barangay lang?
Maybe I’ll change my mind, because that’s what our country needs.
But if all he’s good for is to move his people during rallies to religious fervor and enthusiasm, sorry na lang dear. No dice.

What I am praying here is magkaroon lahat tayo ng maliwanag na kaisipan sa pagpili ng iboboto natin. Dahil nga next president will lead our country from 2010 to 2016.

I can be a living testimony for you Preddox and for all of us here. I my changed because of the our God sa pamamagitan ng JIL (Jesus is Lord). When I wasn’t a Christian yet my life was miserable. Lagi ako nagtatanong.. Bakit ganito ang buhay ko walang kwenta.. walang patutunguhan. I pity myself because am not a degree holder just like nung mga nakasabayan ko. I was graduated in course of Computer Technician (pagandahan natin para mas sosyal, it’s Computer System and Networking Technology.. haha) by the way, just a 2-year course.
So nung naggraduate ako I told my Lord anu ang magiging work ko. I said to myself sige pwede na yung kung saan saan lang. No choice eh.. Mababa lang pinagaralan.
Sabi nga nung instructor ko dati hindi daw ako pwede sa office, hindi ako pang office. Parang kung anu nalang mahanap ko yun na lang. Toink! haha.. What a negative attitude diba?
But my life was twisted my co-bloggers.. When I became a Christian sa pamamagitan nga ng JIL na ang leader ay si Bro. Eddie Villanueva, my perspective and principle in life transformed from negative to positive. God and Chruch as well as Bro. Eddie that I must seek first his Kingdom and everything will be added to me.
And you know what? After I saw His kingdom, Jesus Christ rewarded me.. He gave that work I wanted. Dito po ako ngayun sa Makati nagtatrabaho (where Heckler resides). Yung natapos ko nagagamit ko ngayun because I am a now a Technical Support Specialist/System Administration here in Software Developer company. Magtwo years na po this coming October, I am already regular last April of 2008.
Diba astig nun.. haha. Because of Christianity and how I seek our God first nakuha ko gusto ko. From simpleng promdi to Makati boy.. wahahaha..

1. The Philippines is a rich country but its people are poor because the resources are enjoyed lavishly only by the corrupt people in power.
I envision a country wherein yung “TATSULOK” na sinasabi ni Bamboo sa song niya ay mabaligtad na and every Filipino is given his/her right to enjoy this nation’s riches na para naman talaga sa kanila.

Just some of the standards that a good president, in my humble opinion:
1. He must be able to inspire people (a-la Magsasaysay). Being able to rally people to a act or to go to a certain direction is a must. It’s not enough to order around because youre president, but people must believe in you and what you want to accomplish (a-la Obama, so far).
2. He must possess integrity (a-la Ninoy). The president should have the ability to expose or punish even his family and relatives if they err (a-la GMA…. NOT!). People must have that belief in the president that he will not use his office for his or his relative’s private gain.
3. He must have brains (a-la Marcos). Admit it. The task of running the presidency isnt just some job that requires a minimum IQ of 80 and a maximum mass appeal (a-la Estrada). Presidential decision making is an exercise that requires some kind of intellectual dexterity to be able to see the whole picture yet at the same time understand the implications and effects of his decision to the general majority.
4. He must possesses political and diplomatic skills to reach out to all sectors and engage them in nation building. The president should have the ability to decisively deal with persistent national problems such as the Muslim secessionist agenda, the communist insurgency, rampant population growth, corruption in government offices, etc.
5. He must possesses experience in legislature and a degree of success in an executive position or private enterprise. Because a president has to have know how about what laws need to be made or unmade, but at the same time has his feet grounded in day to day operations and dealing with people.
6. He must be a realist, pragmatic at times, able to make painful decisions that may go against personal convictions or moral/religious beliefs for the greater good.

What is Villanueva’s stand/plans/objectives regarding pressing problems facing our country such as population control, food security, national security and sovereignty issues (the moro secessionist problem, the Spratly’s problem and its implications on national sovereignty, the communist insurgency, the VFA, etc.), endemic corruption in the government, the energy crisis, the global recession, the brain/brawn drain brought by the OFW exodus, the deteriorating educational system and its exacerbating effects on the national and international competitiveness of our workforce, ad nauseam.
Kung ipagpapanalangin nya lang ang mga ito na umalis, malabo yan mga parekoy. Kulang ang pagiging pagdadasal nya, pag iyak para sa bayan, at kung ano ano pa, kung wala siyang kongkreto, epektibo, at mapagpapaniwalaang programa para sa bayan. Mapagsasabihan nga naman kayong “ampaw” kung wala kayong masabi kung hind he is a leader, he is a servant, etc etc.

I will vote for him. So far what this country needs is a righteous leader who knows about the economy of the country and has a huge fear on GOD. I don’t know why I don’t believe the accusations na nababasa ko dito because I heard his side, and maybe kayo rin ay kailangang marinig ang side niya.
Do we have to waste our vote again (like in the previous) to an administration who just shows the beautiful side of their works and hide the rotting issues?
I’m just tired of the previous administration which is doing only little work. Wherein I see that the Philippines is a rich country, but all of those riches are going to waste or in the pockets of others.
I believe in his cause so if anyone of you hits me its ok. I just want to share my opinion and as far as I’m concerned, “The world is too poor to buy his convictions and principles.” He’s the only leader I’ve heard of saying that.
Sabi nga niya eh, he won’t run if may mas qualified pa sa kanya like someone who can do all of it without the love for money or fame. I think he’s making a huge sacrifice of himself to help the country.
So far sa mga ibang presidentiables wala akong makitang someone who’s got a good role for leadership.
Maybe this is what I can do for the country now. Choose the person who deserves my vote. And maybe convince others too about Bro. Eddie. I don’t want to waste my vote for someone who can’t stand to what he says,

I have read all of the current comments and found it interesting, except for some like shino and mon to name a few. their comments reflects of what kind of people they are. They are just concern with sarcastic comments. I doubt if they really cared about change, and i doubt if they are useful citizen, in any case i hope they are not. Regarding the topic, i think Bro Eddie is getting more attention from voters than when he first run and lost in 2004. Here in our place there are lots of people, specially newly registered youth who are organizing themselves for 2010 election. For curiosity i ask some of these youth what they intend to do and they answered they will utilize the youth votes to carry Bro Eddie to Malacañang. I think Bangon Pilipinas Party is now more organize as I saw from different sectors that they are preparing to luanch a more organize campaign for Bro Eddie unlike the first time he run. Different sites i browse also reveals that voters are getting more and more aware of the possibility of switching sides from traditional politician to a more viable transformational President, and they are thinking of Mr Villanueva to lead such transformation. This doesnt mean that these people believe that Bro Eddie can immediately heals the nation’s problems rather he might be the starting point to attain the goal of eradicating the massive corruption in this country. In my opinion I think every Filipino voters should not sentimentally vote but use his conscience when voting. To sum up Filipinos should now wake up and change our traditional way of thinking. Let us look for the future of our country. Let us do away with politicians who became richer and richer because of corruption. We know them for sure. And in fact the Philippines become poorer and poorer because the same faces are still in the leadership of this country. Do you notice it? they are the same faces, the rich and famous of this country who holds all wealth of the nation, who lives in the flush subdivisions, Forbes, Dasma etc…There is one Presidential bet who was package as Mr Palenke to associate himself with the poor, but if you will examine it he still OWNS THE PALENGKE . To sum up still, these politicians, the Rich and Famous comprised only of 10% of the nation ’s population but they own all the wealth . And they are the ones directing the Philippines so no wonder 90% of filipinos are very poor. I must tell you that I was virtually the only propagandist for Bro Eddie in 2004. There were no such discussions as this one. And yet we made a dent on Philippine society — people started clamoring for change, and today all the politicians are calling for change without exception. As to what they really mean by “change” is another question.
Today, I’m laid back. I haven’t lifted a finger for Bro Eddie since late last year. But what I’m seeing is a sea-change. Bro Eddie will need a much more detailed platform and program than we outlined in 2004 (though I must tell you that that program was already superb), but with these youth at the forefront, I think they’ll get there themselves.

I just cant stand your comments esp about CIBAC partylist considering my cousin and i just graduated last friday thru Rep.Villanueva’s scholarship program. Believe it or not 3 years kami pinag aral kahit hampas lupa lang kami ng cubao! Pumila nga lang kami sa office nila, wala backer, wala kakilala. Then we all stopped going to school for 1 semester bec of the impeachment complaint CIBAC spearheaded, DBM stopped releasing funds. More than a thousand of us natigil sa pag aaral, i know bec i was there following up but Cong.joel didnt give up, we were coursed thru cong.salceda chair of appro committee then para matuloy lang pag aaral namin. Its true! CIBAC funds were withheld for quite some time, i think 3 years. Last february 3, i finally met Cong.Joel in congress together with more than 300 graduating scholars from metro manila. Am not his fan nor watch his tv program but i felt really good listening to him. I cant believe he’s not running for public office anymore, well at least this 2010. Retired na daw sya. After our merienda we went to his office 3rd floor, i saw CIBAC partylist projects all over the country, naka display pa ibang pics, nandun din long list of hospitals, universities, beneficiaries, from farmers, scholars pati food carts! You can try and drop by, mababait sila dun. AGAIN, ayaw kong ma discourage mga orgs like CIBAC OR REP.VILLANUEVA from helping hopeless people like me/us! KAYA AKO, HANDANG MAKIPAG SUNTUKAN KAHIT ANONG ORAS, KAHIT KANINO! your place, your date and your time!
